Apartment Review for Coronado At Newport South - Newport Beach, CA

I found this site looking for reviews for apartments because when I move out of Coronado South I don't want to end up in another dump. Honestly I've lived here almost a year and in that time the following have happened: * There was a home invasion break-in and two sexual assaults! What the others have said about renting to criminals, I agree. My upstairs neighbor smokes a lot of pot right on his balcony, and I can smell it in my apartment. The home invasion was supposedly related to a drug deal. The gated access never works. Either you can just push the gates open and walk in, or your code stops working and the gate doesn't let anybody in. * The pool was shut down for a few months by the health department due to unsanitary conditions. They let ducks swim and crap in the people pool and it got so bad the health inspector shut down the pool and sauna. * I have not gotten a full-nights sleep here yet. The maintenance workers begin sometimes as early as 7:00. It is on a direct approach to the John Wayne Airport and plane traffic starts as early as 8:00. Don't forget the late night parties that they do not respond to! You can call the after-hours maintenance number but they'll just hang up on you because its not an emergency. The "full time" security guard is a joke. He just hangs out in the parking lot waiting for cars to tow. He must get a commission. If you are currently living in a dorm or frat house you will probably love it here. * I've had over 300$ in parking tickets. Oh yeah... there is ample parking but its all the way on the far side of the complex. Its at least a good 5 minute walk to your car in the morning. Oh, and forget about guest parking or a second car. Guests will be towed (free money!) and second cars cost extra (free money!). You can also pay extra to park in a lot closer to your apartment (free money!). It's like 50$ a month. What a deal! I do like the gym there, and when the pool isn't full of duck sh_t I'm sure its real nice. They have an awesome clubhouse with pool tables and stuff, but DONT BE FOOLED! It's only open the few hours a day that the staff is in the rental office. This is when most people are at work. This place is sorta cheap and it is decently close to the water, but trust me YOU WILL PAY TO LIVE HERE!!!
